Top 5 mistakes when wearing a bow tie
As a specialist in stylish bow ties, we see every day how a small detail can make all the difference. Unfortunately, we still often see that the bow tie is not worn completely correctly - a shame! Here are the 5 most common mistakes and how to prevent them.
1. Wrong size
Not every bow tie fits every age. A child with a shiny bow tie that is too big looks dressed up instead of dressed. Therefore, choose a bow tie for children, smaller in size and therefore much more comfortable to wear. We recommend children's bow ties for children from clothing size 98 to 158.
For adults, the opposite applies: avoid childish designs and go for a stylish one, suitable for the occasion.
2. Losing sight of elegance.
A pre-tied bow tie is handy and the most chosen variant from our collection of bow ties. But at a gala or other formal occasion, you radiate pure elegance with a self-tie bow tie. Therefore, challenge yourself by choosing the unknown, because let's be honest: style sometimes needs some practice.
3. Choosing the wrong occasion
Not every bow tie is suitable for everything. A brightly coloured bow tie with a cheerful design at a serious networking event? Don't do it! A luxurious bow tie in satin silk or velvet is perfect for a black-tie event, but too formal for a garden party. So let your choice depend on the dress code and the atmosphere of the occasion.
4. Bad combination with the outfit
A bow tie should work with your outfit and not against it. Make sure your shirt has the right collar - not a button down - and that your bow tie goes well with your jacket, pocket square and shoes in terms of colour and fabric. Subtle contrasts often work better than wearing exactly the same colours.
5. No attention to detail
Whether you're wearing a pre-tied bow tie or a self-tie bow tie: a crooked bow, a visible label or a bow that's too loose can completely ruin your outfit. So pay attention to the details, that's where true elegance lies.
